I will root small quantities of cuttings of this on request during the growing season, and offer as young rooted cuttings. (Takes about three weeks to form roots). Swap interests: ornamental grasses and unusual perennials.
Cuphea cyanea (Cigar plant). A branching bushy round evergreen shrub native to Mexico. Bears mid green ovate leaves and racemes of yellow-orange and red purple flowers in spring.
They are half hardy to frost tender, min 2-7C and will prefer full sun with fertile, well drained soil. You can water freely when in full growth and moderately at other times. Remove the flowering shoots after flowering, this will maintain a bushy habit.
Grown for their flowers.
