Ceanothus ‘Autumnal Blue’ (Californian lilac). An evergreen shrub bearing large, glossy, bright green leaves and panicles of large, pale to medium blue flowers appearing from late summer to mid autumn.
They are frost to half hardy; in cold areas you should plant against a south or west facing wall. They will need a sheltered site in full sun and light well drained soil. Remember to cut out the dead wood from the evergreens in the spring and trim their side shoots after flowering. Cut back shoots of deciduous species to basal framework in early spring.
