A really splendid variety. Hybrid of Hosta nigrescens, and has inherited the upright leaf petioles of this species. Long wavy blue leaves with a good cream border. Decent substance gives good slug resistance in my experience. A little slow to get started, but forms a strong, long lasting clump. Very elegant in a container and tough in the border. Light shade help retain the blueness.
Plantain Lily 'Regal Splendour'
Hosta ‘Regal Splendour’ (Plantain Lily 'Regal Splendour'). This Hosta has long, blue-green, deeply veined leaves on upright petioles with a cream margin that increases as the leaf matures. A sport of H. 'Krossa Regal' and former Hosta of the Year (2003). Lilac flowers are produced in August.
This plant needs a shaded or semi-shaded position to retain the blue colouring of the leaves. Protect from slugs and snails.
