Creeping juniper, Waukegan juniper, Juniper
Juniperus horizontalis (Creeping juniper). This species is a prostrate shrub that is fast spreading. It will branch and form a mat of blue-green or grey leaves up to 45cm thick. It will prefer full sun and will tolerate heat and drought. It is a good choice for coastal gardens and areas where erosion control is needed.
If the conifer produces more than one leader, to maintain the general conical habit remove all but one leader. To restrict the height of the plant, the leader can be cut back.
Ground cover, ornamental, erosion control, rock garden, edging, banks, specimen. Tolerates coastal conditions. Purple coloured leaves in autumn.
