Description

Anthemis nobilis (Chamomile). This is an evergreen perennial. The flowers are small and are white with yellow centres. All parts of this plant are fragrant. The leaves are bipinnate and finely dissected and held alternately on the stem.

Also known as Chamaemelum nobile.

Cultivation

Prefers light soil, in full sun. Trim plants regularly to promote compact growth.

Interest and use

Border, fragrance, medicinal, ground cover. A herbal tea can be made from the flowers either fresh or dried, and it is thought to have a calming effect. Also used in aromatherapy.

Can be sown and mown like a lawn.
