Aquilegia vulgaris (Columbine). This is the columbine that is native to Europe and is grown for its spurred flowers that bloom in midsummer. It flowers in shades of rose, white, purple, burgundy or lavender.


These plants prefer the well drained, humus-rich soil of their native woodlands and will grow in full sun or part shade.
