Cardamine pratensis (Lady's smock). An upright perennial herb found in parts of Europe and North America with glossy grey green, kidney-shaped to round, rosette, pinnate leaves. Bears purple pink (rarely white) panicles of disc-shaped flowers. Its common name is 'Cuckoo Flower', because the flowers of this plant begin to open at about the same time as the cuckoo starts to call.


They are fully hardy and will require sun or semi-shade in moist soil.

Interest and use

Wildflower/meadow, ponds and bogs.
