Teasel, Common teasel
Dipsacus fullonum (Teasel). A common wildflower is a prickly biennial to 2m tall native to Europe and western Asia. Begins as a basal rosette of long, pointed leaves that shrivel when the plant flowers. The long-stalked pale purple flowerheads are borne in mid to late summer and are about 8cm long. They emerge between small, curved, springy bracts that persist long after the flowers are gone. This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe.
