Fritillaria persica (Persian fritillary). These are rosette perennial clumps, The lance-shaped leaves are grey-green, the flowers are purple brown and single. They are ideal for a border or cutting bed.


They are fully to frost hardy and will need full sun or partial shade with well drained soil that will dry out slightly in the summer when the bulbs are dormant but that does not become sunbaked. Grow F.meleagris, which is good for naturalizing in grass, in moisture-retentive soil.
