Papaver rhoeas (Common red poppy). The most common Poppy. These fast-growing annuals have cup-shaped flowers, most usually red, but also white and pink. Leaves are light green and lobed. The plants need full sun and will self-sow, particularly if the surrounding soil is disturbed. This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe.


They are fully to frost hardy and will prefer little or no shade with deep, moist, well-drained soil. You should sow the seed in spring or autumn.
