Viola riviniana (Common dog violet). This is a tufted, small violet. The flowers are blue with no scent and are borne from spring throughout the summer. The leaves are long-stemmed and rounded. This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe.
They are fully to half hardy and should be grown in the sun or shade in well drained but moisture retentive soil; a few species prefer acid soil. They will appreciate shelter from the drying winds.
