Although it looks tender, this Syrian plant is actually bone-hardy, stout stems bearing tiered whorls of hooded, butter yellow flowers in summer, above rough heart-shaped basal leaves. A valuable and easy plant that thrives in almost any soil. Rich buttery yellow flowers appear in June-Aug. Grey green heart shaped basal leaves. Impressive seedheads. Good ground cover.H&S 3ft x 2ft.

Phlomis russeliana (Sticky Jerusalem sage). This species has dark green foliage it is arranged in a neat clump, the flowering spikes grow about 3 feet. The blooms are a buttery yellow and appear at the stem just above the paired leaves. They are followed by seed pods which are also attractive and decorative.
They will tolerate moderate frosts, they will suffer in prolonged wet weather and should be grown in an exposed positions. Plant in a moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial-shade.
