One of my favourite daylilies :-)
Claret wine-purple with chalky pinkish wine eye, petals twist and curl attractively,
Breeder Munson 1984, evergreen height 2ft 4inch with 5inch flowers,
Another plant recently split so growing on on my nursery bed and not in a pot so the 2litre pot size is really a guide to the size pot this would need to go in,
Hemerocallis genus (Day lily). These are perennials and some are semi-evergreen or evergreen. There are about 14 species but many thousands of cultivars have been produced. They are grown for their showy, often fragrant flowers which bloom in a vibrant range of colours. The individual blooms will only last for a day, which makes it vital to dead-head them regularly to extend flowering. Fully hardy. Does best in full sun and fertile, moist soil. Slug and snail control is essential in early spring when the young foliage first appears.
