The Egyptian water taro as the name suggests can be used as a marginal water plant in the summer. Velvety dark purple heart shaped leaves with green vains and green stems.
Colocasia esculenta ‘Antiquorum’ (Taro). 'Antiquorum' has smaller but a larger number of tubers which are nuttier in flavour. May have a large amount of irritant crystals in the tubers, which can be removed by repeated boiling.
This crop has a minimum growing temperature of 10C and a maximum growing temperature of 35C; the optimal growing temperature is between 21C and 28C.
