Pale blue flowers Aug-Nov. Tropical looking plant, hardy in most places in UK. Particularly good for putting into walls and places where the restricted root run encourages flowering.
Fascicularia bicolor. A beautiful, vigorous bromeliad native to Chile-striking when in full-flower. Has compact rosettes of narrow, grey-green serrated leaves. The inner leaves turn a striking red in autumn. The flowers are borne in dense corymbs in summer.
They are half hardy and will prefer full light and any well drained soil is suitable. You will need to water moderately from the spring to the autumn and sparingly in winter.
