Jeffersonia diphylla (Ground squirrel tea). This species will grow in a rich woodland. It is a slow-growing plant, the leaves are kidney-shaped and deeply incised; they are about 15cm across and tinted grey. The dainty white cup-shaped flowers are about 25mm wide and are produced in late spring or early summer. The flowers have prominent yellow stamens.
Extensive root systems resent disturbance. Top dress crown in late autumn.
