Sweet water lily, Fragrant water lily, Pond lily, Water lily
Nymphaea odorata ‘Sulphurea Grandiflora’ (Sweet water lily). A deciduous perennial with dark green, bronze-purple leaves. Fragrant, star-shaped, semi-double, yellow to pink flowers are borne during the summer.
They produce frost-hardy waterlilies they grow in most climates and will flower freely throughout the summer. You can divide the tuber-like rhizomes and then replant in spring or summer every 3 or 4 years. The tropical waterlilies are frost tender, and will require a very warm, sunny situation. They flower from mid-summer into the autumn, and produce large, scented flowers which are held above the water surface. If you grow them in cooler areas, the tubers of tropical waterlilies should be lifted and stored in moist sand over the winter. You can propagate from seeds or by separating the plantlets in spring or early autumn.
