Clematis ‘Dr Ruppel’ (Clematis). This is an early, large-flowered climber. Single flowers, which grow up to 15cm across, with deep rose-pink sepals with darker central bands and light chocolate anthers, are freely produced throughout summer.
They are fully to half hardy. They will require a rich soil that is kept moist, but it is well drained. They should be grown in full sun, but the roots will require shade and protection from too much heat.
Grown for their mass of flowers, which can be grown on trellises and walls. Suitable for coastal conditions.
