We have about 60 metres of mature box hedging lining our driveway. We will be taking this up as part of a garden redesign. It has been free growing, not containerised, so will be sold bare rooted by the metre. Sold in units of ten metres - minimum purchase £100 (10 x the quantity priced opposite). There are approximately 4 plants per metre. Buyer to dig up and collect themselves.
Box, Common box, Dudeon
Buxus sempervirens (Box). This species is grown for its dark green dense foliage. It is a good species for a formal garden but it is a slow-growing shrub; it can eventually reach a height of 5m.
It will prefer a warm climate though the roots like to be kept cool with a generous mulching. You might need to protect in the winter to keep the leaves from browning due to the cold. Should prune back hard in winter or early spring.
Ornamental, foliage, edging, border, hedging, container, banks, specimen. Year-round interest.
