These plants have long bottle-brush-like flowering spikes of cream-white flowers, which are flushed with pink and appear from September to October. The foliage is comprised of double, heart-shaped three-lobed leaves in burgundy, at the base of the plant.
They like moist conditions, with humus-rich soil, in shade or semi-shade. May need staking.
