Scilla peruviana

This grower is sure of this plant identification.

These are a Mediterranean squill I have grown from seeds - currently seedlings, but I am pricking them out into 9cm pots. They probably won't flower this year. They will have BLUE flowers. The name 'peruviana' does not refer to their native land - they are a native of Portugal and the Med.Checkout this link to see a good picture:

Common names



Scilla peruviana (Squill). This species produces dense clusters of up to 50 star-shaped flowers which are borne in summer on 30cm long stem. The flower are 25mm wide, are usually blue or sometimes white or purple. The foliage is dark to olive-green and glossy, strap-like.


They should be planted in the autumn in average garden soil with full sun to light shade.
