Salvia Superba merleau blue

To swap with Alice

This grower is sure of this plant identification.

Ideally I'd like to swap this in person locally, I have two plants to swap for taller Salvia or Campanula Pescifolia or Loddon varieties, or similar blue spire form plants that reach around 50-75cm eventually

Plant Finder: about the Salvia genus

Common names

Sage

Description

Salvia genus (Sage). These are annuals, biennials, perennials and evergreen or semi-evergreen shrubs and sub-shrubs. Salvia is an ancient Latin name which is derived from salveo which means to save or to heal. There are about 900 species, which produce tubular shaped flowers, in many different colours. The leaves of some species may be used for flavouring foods.

Cultivation

Some species will tolerate only light frosts, but some of the perennials are more frost-hardy. They will grow well when planted in full sun in well drained light soil with adequate watering in the summer. Cut back in spring.

Interest and use

Grown for their tubular, 2-lipped, often brightly coloured flowers and aromatic foliage. Leaves of some species may be used for flavouring foods. Suitable for coastal conditions.

Hopefully my cutting attempts will be fruitful and I'll have a few things here in time, for now I do have a couple of Iris plants that I'm happy to swap/sell to make some room, they are a lovely deep plum shade similar to Indian chief (see pictures) also I have a Clematis Montana and a couple of Salvias
