Sweet pea, Pulse, Vetchling, Wild pea
Lathyrus genus (Sweet pea). The genus consists of about 150 species of annuals and perennials, many of them are tendril climbers and some of them are edible. The leaves are pinnate, with racemes of pea-shaped flowers that come in a wide range of colours from red, pink, mauve and white to blue and even pale yellow. The flowers are followed by long thin seed pods.
You can plant these frost-hardy plants in fertile, well-drained soil with full sun. They will need staking. Provide support and remove dead flowers regularly. Cut down perennials in late autumn.
