The flowers are large long oval blooms, the clusters are topped by a small tuft of leaves reminiscent of a pineapple, they are purple and will open to reveal white blooms with purple centres.
This plant has a colony-forming habit, so you should plant them where they can spread into a large clump, but remember they will require a warm protected site. You should plant your bulbs in the spring about 3ins deep from the top of the bulb and space them about 12ins apart.
