Description

Acacia dealbata (Mimosa). This species will produce attractive round bright yellow flower-heads. It can withstand winters in England and will grow quite fast but will be rather short-lived. It flowers better in climates with a longer, drier summer. In Europe it is known as 'Mimosa'. It has a single trunk with smooth grey bark. Each bipinnate leaf is made up of hundreds of tiny leaflets coated in white hairs, giving the foliage a silvery cast.

Cultivation

Grow in medium to light soil types with a moderate depth, which need to be well drained with low salinity, with full sun with some shade.

Propagation

Propagate by seed in the spring. Soak them in warm water until swollen first. Root semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
