Juglans nigra (Black walnut). This is a fast-growing deciduous tree. It can grow up to 50m but mostly grows to about 30m. It has a single trunk with a broad rounded crown. The greenish brown catkins will appear in the spring with the early leaves, and they are followed by dark brown edible nuts enclosed in a green husk. The leaves are made up of glossy dark green leaflets.
