Kalopanax genus (Castor oil tree). This genus contains deciduous trees which is indigenous to the cool forests of China, Korea and Japan. It is grown for its attractive foliage and fruit. They are fully hardy, but unripened wood on young plants is susceptible to frost damage. Grow in sun or semi-shade with fertile moist but well drained soil. Propagation is by softwood cuttings in the summer.
