Lablab genus. This genus includes fast-growing but short-lived climbing woody-stemmed perennials with a typical bean leaf with 3 broad leaflets. The flowers are large and pea-like in long, upright spikes. It produces pods which are flattened with a line of bumps along the edge. In the tropics it is grown for green manure and animal feed, and for its edible pods and seeds. It is often raised as an annual. It is frost tender with a min 5-10C. Grow in a sunny position in well drained soil. You can propagate by seeds in the spring.

They are frost tender and are easily grown in any moist but well-drained soil in a sunny position. In cool climates it can be grown as an annual, but it will need a long warm summer for the best growth. You can propagate from seed or cuttings and they might need staking.
Seed in spring.
Very prone to canker.
