Description

Lablab purpureus (Australian pea). This species will produce a dense canopy of purple-tinged foliage. In the summer it bears clustered spikes of pleasantly scented white and mauve flowers; these are followed by 15cm maroon seed pods.

Cultivation

They are frost tender, and are easily grown in any moist but well-drained soil in a sunny position. In cool climates it can be grown as an annual, but it will need a long warm summer for the best growth. You can propagate from seed or cuttings.
