Description

Laurus nobilis (Bay tree). The leaves have been used to crown the heroes of Greece and Rome as well as scent and flavouring foods. It is a slender, conical plant when young and will reach 30 feet in about 25 years. It is a beautiful evergreen tree produces aromatic dark green foliage, with small white flowers which are insignificant and are followed by dark berries.

Cultivation

You can grow them in a frost-hardy climate and plant in fertile, well-drained soil with full sun.

Propagation

You can propagate from seeds in early summer or early autumn, and perennials from seed in autumn or by division in spring. Plant 10cm tip cuttings from mid spring.
