Description

Anacamptis genus. This a genus of around 11 tuberous, terrestrial orchids, growing to around 40cm in height, bearing lance-shaped leaves and crowded spikes of flowers. Blooms are purple-pink, rarely white, and spurred.

Interest and use

The name comes from the Greek 'anakamptein' which means 'to bend forward' and refers to the way the pollen is held inside the flower.
