Macleaya genus (Plume poppy). The genus consists of rhizomatous perennials, they will produce tubular flowers which will shed their petals as they open. The leaves are heart-shaped and grey-green to olive green.
Grown for their overall appearance.
They are frost-hardy plants and will prefer full sun and moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil. You must protect from cold winds.
Propagate by division or by seed in early spring or late autumn. Rooted rhizomes can be transplanted when dormant. Root cuttings can be inserted in winter.
May spread rapidly.
