Description

Maclura genus (Osage orange). This genus produce about 15 species of deciduous and evergreen thorny trees, shrubs and scrambling climbers, They usually produce green flowers which appear in racemes or clusters. They are Fully hardy, Grow in full sun in any but waterlogged soil. You can propagate by softwood cuttings in the summer.

Grown for its foliage and unusual fruits.

Cultivation

They grow well in full sun in a wide range of soils. Their spreading roots make them resistant to very dry conditions. You can propagate from seed in autumn, or from cuttings in summer or late winter. Both male and female trees need to be planted to obtain fruits.

Softwood cuttings in summer, by seed in autumn or by root cuttings in late winter.
