Mammillaria genus (Pincushion cactus). This large genus of cacti contains around 150 dwarf species, they produce short, globular or clump-forming, erect columns. In the spring and summer funnel or daisy-shaped flowers are produced and this is followed by light green or reddish fruit. Grow in full sun and very well drained soil.

They are frost tender, with a minimum temperature of 5-10C. They require full sun for maximum flowering. They are easy to grow, and prefer light, sandy soil. Keep plants completely dry in the winter, otherwise they rot easily.
You can propagate by seed in the spring and summer, or from offsets in summer.
