Description

Maytenus genus. This genus has about 225 species of evergreen trees and shrubs, they produce alternate leaves and tiny, star-shaped or tubular flowers. They are frost hardy but will need shelter from strong cold winds when young. Grow in sun or semi-shade with fertile well drained soil. You can propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in the summer or by suckers in autumn or spring.

Grown for their neat foliage.

Cultivation

They are very frost-hardy to frost-tender plants to produce flowers and fruit. They will need full sun with fertile, moist well-drained soil. You can propagate from seed in autumn or from cuttings in summer.
