Mirabilis genus (Four o'clock flower). There are about 50 species of annuals or herbaceous perennials. They will produce flowers which are often brightly coloured with a pleasant fragrance.

They are half hardy and should be grown in a sheltered position in fertile, well drained soil. In colder climates the tubers of perennial species can be lifted and stored in a in frost-free place over winter like dahlias.
You can propagate by seeds or division of tubers in early spring.
Slugs will damage plants.
