Moraea genus. These are iris-like perennials there are about 120 species, although not many are in cultivation. The flowers are short lived and will last a couple of days, they vary greatly in size, flowering time and colour. They will need a sheltered sunny position with well drained soil. Propagation is by seeds.
Deciduous or Semi-evergreens
The bulbs should be planted in full sun, They like a fairly rich soil and good drainage which is essential. They need plenty of water during growth but must be kept dry when dormant. You can propagate from offsets or from seed.
Seed in autumn the winter species, and the summer species by seed in spring.
