Nepeta genus (Catmint). There are about 200 species of summer-flowering perennials. They are rarely annuals. Some species have highly aromatic silver-grey foliage and are naturally compact while others tend to be taller growing plants and may benefit from staking.
They need a well-drained soil in a sunny position.
You can propagate by division in spring or by stem-tip or softwood cuttings in spring or summer, species only by seed in autumn.
Slugs may damage growth. In dry summers powdery mildew may cause problems.
