Description

Nidularium genus (Bird's nest bromeliad). There are 46 species of evergreen, rosette-forming, epiphytic perennials they are native to Eastern Brazil. The flowers will vary in colour from red to white.

Grown for their overall appearance.

Cultivation

They are frost tender, with a min temp of 10-15C. They grow well in moist, rich soil they prefer warm temperatures in partial-shade. You need to grow them in a position of bright light for good foliage and colour.

Propagation

You can propagate by offsets in the spring or summer or by seed in the spring.

Susceptible to scale insects.
