Description

Odontoglossum crispum (Lace orchid). The pseudobulbs are compressed, there about 8cm long with 2 strap-like leaves. The flowers are arching or pendulous, with 8 to 25 showy flowers, they bloom in mid autumn to mid winter.

Cultivation

The are rather difficult to grow, most of them are cool growing, and need only the usual orchid cultivation of coarse compost, they need plenty of water in the summer with a little light shade.

Propagation

Propagate from older, leafless pseudobulbs which can be removed for replanting, or from new growth which may appear from the bottom of the plant.

Prone to red spider mites, aphids and mealy bugs.
