Antigonon genus (Confederate vine). This is a genus of three evergreen and deciduous climbers. The leaves produced are heart-shaped and dark green in colour. The flowers, which can be shades of pink, purple or yellow-white, are produced in raceme-like clusters. The stamens of the flowers are joined at the base and form a long tube connecting them to the pedicels.

Grown for the foliage and profuse clusters of small flowers.
Grow in any fertile, well drained soil with full light. Water freely in growing season, sparingly at other times. Needs tropical conditions to flower well, with a minimum temperature of 15C. Provide support. Thin out congested growth in early spring.
Propagate by softwood cuttings in summer.
Red spider mite and white flies may be a problem in a green house.
