Description

Parrotia genus (Ironwood). This genus has a single species, a deciduous tree grown particularly for its rich autumn colours. The leaves, which appear after the flowers, are around 10cm long and have undulating edges. The trees are fully hardy but the flower buds are prone to suffer in hard frosts. Parrotia require full sun and grow best in fertile but well drained soil.
