Description

Pedicularis palustris (Marsh lousewort). This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe. STEM: Single, branched below. ROOT: Fibrous, attached to roots of other plants. HAIRS: Almost absent. STIPULES: Absent LEAF-STALK: Shorter than blade. BRACTS: Leaf-like but smaller. FLOWER STALK: Much shorter than flower. SEPALS: 5, joined, hairy, lobes unequal, toothed, tube swollen in fruit. PETALS: 5, upper 2 lobes joined, hood-like, 2 teeth each side. STAMENS: 4, under upper petal-lobes. STIGMA: 1, tip swollen; style long. OVARY: 1, 2-celled. SEEDS: Few, oblong, with net-like pattern
