Penstemon genus (Beardtongue). This genus is large and consists of about 250 species of deciduous, evergreen or semi-evergreen annuals, perennials, sub-shrubs. The leaves will appear in opposite pairs in whorls, and the flowers have 2 lobes on the upper lip and 3 on the lower.

They will thrive in fertile, well-drained soil with full sun. Cut back hard after flowering.
You can propagate by seed in autumn or spring or by softwood or semi-ripe cuttings of non-flowering shoots in mid-summer. Propagate cultivars by cuttings.
May be damaged by slugs and snails and powdery mildew.
