Phillyrea genus (Jasmine box). This genus consists of 4 evergreen shrubs or small trees, some species have small, leathery leaves with toothed edges. Their flowers are small but fragrant with white to greenish cream clusters, they are followed by small blue-black drupes. It is frost hardy, but in cold areas requires shelter. Grow in full sun with fertile, well drained soil. Propagate is by semi-ripe cuttings in the summer.
Grown for their foliage. Suitable for coastal conditions.
They will grown in moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial-shade. They will tolerate dry conditions once they are established. You can propagate from cuttings. To restrict growth, cut back in spring.
