Phormium genus (Flax lily). There are about 2 species of large clumping plants. In the summer they will produce panicles of flowers. The leaves are large arching striped and vertical and appear in clumps they range from dark green to green-yellow.
Perennials, Evergreens, Shrubs or Herbaceous
Grown for their bold, sword-shaped leaves. Suitable for coastal conditions.
They are fairly frost hardy, and will respond well to generous watering and permanently moist conditions.
You can propagate from seed or by division in spring.
Mealy bugs can be a problem.
