Description

Araucaria heterophylla (Norfolk Island pine). This species has become a popular indoor tree for large containers, it can be found in warmer climates It will eventually grow to a height of up to 40m, these trees can produces a striking effect. They have a graceful form; their leaves are needle-like and curve inwards around their branch.

Cultivation

If the conifer produces more than one leader, to maintain the general conical habit remove all but one leader. To restrict the height of the plant, the leader can be cut back.

Propagation

Seed sown in autumn or spring (but forms selected for leaf colour do not come true). Evergreen current growth cuttings in autumn to spring. Deciduous softwood cuttings in summer.
