Description

Arctium minus (Lesser burdock). A large bushy plant growing to around a meter and a half in height, with long, ovate leaves with wavy margins and which are cordate at the base. The leaves are mid green, with white woolly undersides. The plants grow long tap-roots; up to 30cms in length. the flowers are held in spiky globes, similar to thistles and are pink-lilac to purple in colour. The seed heads are covered in tiny hooks or burrs which stick to fur and feathers.
