Platycodon genus (Japanese bellflower). This genus consists of semi-tuberous perennials. The leaves have toothed edges with elliptical to lance-shaped light blue-green foliage. The flowers bloom in mid-summer then open into broad bell-shaped, white, pink, blue or purple blooms.
Grown for its flowers in summer.
They are fully hardy and will grow easily in any well-drained soil with full sun.
You can propagate by basal cuttings of non-flowering shoots in summer, preferably with a piece of root attached, or by seed in autumn.
Slugs and snails attack young shoots.
