Description

Podranea genus. There are about 2 species of evergreen shrubby climbers, In the summer they will produce pink or lilac trumpet-shaped flowers. They are frost tender, min 5-10C. Grow in any fertile, well drained soil, with full light. Propagation is by seeds in the spring or by semi-ripe cuttings in summer.

Interest and use

Grown for their foxglove-like flowers.

Cultivation

You will need to grow in partial-shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. You will to water liberally during there growth period. You can propagate from cuttings in the summer or from seeds in the spring. Provide support. Thin out crowded growth in winter or early spring.

Propagation

Seed in spring or by semi-ripe cuttings in summer.

Prone to red spider mites and mealy bugs under glass.
